Iwatsu ADIX SMDR setup and CDR format

This page shows how to get call records out of the Iwatsu ADIX into Advanced PBX Data Logger: the connection settings, the parser to select and the 12 fields the logger extracts for reports or a database. The settings apply to our logger; other call accounting software may expect a different configuration.

Switching SMDR output on, as documented

Connect the serial cable to the PRINTER connector on the VS-MAIN motherboard card, then program the SMDR port with Class 01.03 Port Definition and Class 04 items 50, 51, 52, 53 and 54.
Class 04 items to configure: 04.50 SMDR-Output Port, 04.51 SMDR-Minimum Call Duration, 04.52 SMDR-Incoming Call Report, 04.53 SMDR-Toll Only Report, 04.54 SMDR-Account Code Only.

Record format notes

Each SMDR record is 80 characters followed by CR/LF; a page is 66 lines (6 header, 58 record, 2 footer) and a new page starts automatically when the date changes.
Field positions: Sequence 1-3 (rolls over after 999), Trunk 5-7, Extension 9-12, Time 15-19, Duration 21-28 (over 9h59m59s shown as *h:mm:ss), Called/Calling Number 35-61 or 35-44+Name 46-61 for incoming, Account 62-73, Notes 75-80.
Note-column call codes: DID (incoming DID), DIS (DISA without password), DIP (DISA with password), DIA (DISA remote programming), TRA (call-forward-in), TIE (outgoing tie line); symbol * / ** prefix marks first/second call transfer, trailing # marks an outgoing call and A marks attendant-handled.
Dial pause and 'dial mark' (invisible speed-dial) are shown as special ASCII symbols (2DH and 58H) inside the dialed-number field.

Reports and a database

Once records arrive, the logger writes them to a text file or to any ODBC database in real time, or hands them to the PBX Reports utility for manual, scheduled and e-mailed reports with a built-in web server. See exporting call log data to a database for the database setup.
