Toshiba Strata DK SMDR formats

Advanced PBX Data Logger includes 4 parsers for Toshiba Strata DK systems. This page gathers them in one place. For each system you will find how the call records reach the logger, the parser to select, and the 50 fields in total that these parsers extract for PBX Reports or a database. The settings apply to our logger; other call accounting software may expect a different configuration.

Systems on this page

Connecting the logger

Add a data source in PBX Data Logger that matches the interface named in each section: RS232 for a serial SMDR port, TCP client when the PBX accepts connections, TCP server when the PBX pushes records to the logger, or FTP for systems that write CDR files. Then open Modules → Query Parse Filter → Data query, click Setup and select the parser named in the section. The general steps are shown on the SMDR listener page; every other supported system is listed on the supported PBX index.

Settings from the manufacturer's documentation

Taken from Toshiba Strata DK 14 40 424. Values are those stated in the documentation; confirm them against your firmware release.

SettingDocumented value
serial parametersASCII-formatted, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit
SMDR port hardware requirementPIOU/PIOUS (any DK); RSIU/RSIS also for DK424; TSIU for DK40i; WSIU for DK14
PIOU/PIOUS port speed300 or 1200 bps
RSIU/RSIS (DK424), TSIU (DK40i), WSIU (DK14) port speed1200-9600 bps, set via Program 76
cable/connector3-pair modular cord (7 ft max) with a PPTC connector adapter
on-card SMDR record bufferup to 50 calls, buffered when the accounting device is off or disconnected
minimum call duration to be recorded1.0 or 10 seconds, set in Program 60-2

Switching SMDR output on, as documented

  1. Program SMDR with Program 60; the SMDR port is active only on the PIOU/PIOUS with the lowest Program 03 code (41, 42 or 43), or on the RSIU/RSIS port set to code x2 in Program 76-1.

Record format notes

  • A header line with the date and 'Every Fifty Call Records and at Midnight' is printed each time 50 call records accumulate and at midnight.
  • A leading '*' marks a call disconnected by the CO's Calling Party Control (CPC) or Automatic Release signal.
  • Special dial digits print as letters: Tone = T, Long pause = L, Flash = F, Pause = P.
  • Special record labels replace the normal call type: MSS for DISA/external-call-forward calls answered after the threshold, DISA for trunk-to-trunk DISA CO access, MODM for calls to the remote maintenance modem (Station #19).
  • Each line of output ends with a CR/LF pair.

Reports and a database

Once records arrive, the logger writes them to a text file or to any ODBC database in real time, or hands them to the PBX Reports utility for manual, scheduled and e-mailed reports with a built-in web server. See exporting call log data to a database for the database setup.
