Switching SMDR output on, as documented

  1. Program [800] SMDR RS-232C Parameter to set the baud rate, terminator, data bits, parity and stop bits so they match the receiving PC's COM port.
  2. Program [801] SMDR Parameter to set the page length and skip-perforation line counts for the printout.
  3. Program [802] to choose whether outgoing calls print On/Off/Toll and incoming calls print On/Off.
  4. Select SMDR Mode for Printing [929]: MODE 1 for the standard SMDR stream (as in Station Message Detail Recording, 1.20.1.1) or MODE 2 for the alternate per-extension format.

Record format notes

  • Two output patterns exist: Pattern A without call-charge information and Pattern B with call-charge information (currency such as EUR shown per call), selected by whether Call Charge Calculation/Call Charge Information SMDR Format 1 [922] is enabled.
  • Special call tags shown in the Dial Number field: <incoming> is printed as <I>, <DISA incoming> as <DI>, <DIL incoming> as <LI>, and <UCD waiting> as <UW>.
  • Besides the main SMDR stream, section 1.20.1.2 'Call Log Printout for Each Extension' is a separate, selectable per-extension format that prints a header block '* ext : name *' followed by 'Starting Date : mm.dd.yy hh:mmPM' and then that extension's own calls with a running Total charge line; the sample record shown on the page for KX-TEB308 ("* 101 : PEKTOP *" / "Starting Date : Dec.22.08 04:23PM") matches this per-extension format, not the standard SMDR block format.
  • Dial number field valid characters are 0-9, comma and #, plus F/ for Flash/Recall and = for a system speed-dial access code; secret/verified account codes can be suppressed from printing via program [803].

Connecting the logger

Add a data source in PBX Data Logger that matches the interface named in the section for your variant (RS232, TCP client, TCP server or FTP), then open Modules → Query Parse Filter → Data query, click Setup and select the parser named there.

Panasonic programming software

Panasonic KX-TES and KX-TEM systems are programmed with the KX-TE Maintenance Console from Panasonic or your dealer, or from a proprietary telephone in system programming mode. AGG Software does not distribute the console. PBX Data Logger receives the SMDR output that it switches on.

Reports and a database

Once records arrive, the logger writes them to a text file or to any ODBC database in real time, or hands them to the PBX Reports utility for manual, scheduled and e-mailed reports with a built-in web server. See exporting call log data to a database for the database setup.
