Panasonic KX-T, KX-TD500, DBS and 576/816 SMDR formats

Advanced PBX Data Logger includes 10 parsers for Panasonic legacy systems. This page gathers them in one place. For each system you will find how the call records reach the logger, the parser to select, and the 117 fields in total that these parsers extract for PBX Reports or a database. Of these, 3 over RS-232; the rest are identified by their record layout and can arrive over a serial port or a LAN connection. The settings apply to our logger; other call accounting software may expect a different configuration.

Systems on this page

Connecting the logger

Add a data source in PBX Data Logger that matches the interface named in each section: RS232 for a serial SMDR port, TCP client when the PBX accepts connections, TCP server when the PBX pushes records to the logger, or FTP for systems that write CDR files. Then open Modules → Query Parse Filter → Data query, click Setup and select the parser named in the section. The general steps are shown on the SMDR listener page; every other supported system is listed on the supported PBX index.

Panasonic 576 (Caller ID)

Parser: Panasonic 576 (Caller ID)
Connection: Serial printer port or LAN, whichever the system uses for SMDR output. The record layout identifies the format.
Fields extracted: 15

Settings from the manufacturer's documentation

Taken from Panasonic DBS 576 - SMDR format, SMDR - some formats. Values are those stated in the documentation; confirm them against your firmware release.

SettingDocumented value
Selectable SMDR record widthFormat 1 (80 characters) or Format 2 (120 characters)
Required receiving hardwareA printer or an external call accounting system connected to the serial port

Switching SMDR output on, as documented

  1. Program FF2: SMDR for Outbound Calls (Analog, E&M Tie Line and ISDN trunks).
  2. Program FF2: SMDR for Inbound Calls (Analog, E&M Tie Line and ISDN trunks).
  3. Program FF1-006 Serial Port Receive Data and FF1-009 SMDR Output Format to configure the serial output.

Record format notes

  • Outgoing condition codes are prioritized T/H (Transfer/Hold) > F (Call Forward Outside) > W (Closed Numbering) > L (LCR Outgoing) > O (Outgoing); incoming condition codes are prioritized h/t (Hold/Transfer) > D/N/S (DID, Network, DISA incoming) > I/A (Incoming/Abandoned); only the highest-priority code for a call is printed.
  • A third record layout, Format #3, adds an ISDN B-channel number field (blank for non-ISDN calls, or for calls on an H0/H1 ISDN line).
  • The Caller ID caller-name field is truncated to a maximum of 12 characters.
  • A generic multi-vendor SMDR guide documents the same 576 record layout: field order call-type, start-time, duration, trunk-user-number, trunk-number, dialed-number, accounting-code, ID-code (V001-V400), with call types I=incoming, S=DISA incoming, D=DID incoming, O=outgoing, L=LCR outgoing, h=hold, t=transfer, W=closed numbering.

Reports and a database

Once records arrive, the logger writes them to a text file or to any ODBC database in real time, or hands them to the PBX Reports utility for manual, scheduled and e-mailed reports with a built-in web server. See exporting call log data to a database for the database setup.
